Inter racial relationship

The evolution of society’s norm throughout man’s existence has been nothing short of astonishing and controversial. A few decades ago, things like taboo were kept away from, but now they are perfectly normal in today’s modern society. When and how did this happen?

When doing a little research online regarding acceptance of inter-racial unions, one thing becomes blatantly obvious: between the two predominant reactions, nonchalance and outright antagonism, the latter is slowly and steadily losing ground as it gives way to more liberal ways of thinking. Make no mistake, racism is still rampant and not only between blacks and whites. These days, racial discrimination can also be found in remote areas of the world. The Chinese would hardly take a second look at the Japanese nor is it often that we see an American or German marrying an African bride. Why is this so?

Skin color is one contributing factor.  In 2009, a white U.S. court judge denied a couple their right to get married. The man was black and the woman was white. His argument was that he did not want their offspring to spend his or her life being ridiculed by others because of the mixed blood-line. To the majority, this is an unethical and biased move for a judge. Surprisingly, however, there are quite a number of people who agree with him, but not one of them is a psychologist whose opinion would have had more weight than that of any judge. In the end, the couple got married by another judge. They sued the first judge for what he did to them. Eventually, the judge resigned from office succumbing to the public’s outrage.

When something new or strange is introduced into someone’s normal world, it is instinctively met with a mixture of curiosity and apprehension. There is no denying that it takes a conscious effort for, say, an Asian guy to get himself to even introduce himself to an African lady. Following that, there are those huge barriers such as culture, language, religion and so on. Going beyond a couple’s romantic relationship, if the judge’s excuse was to be believed, there are apparently more challenges that remain to be conquered.

All things considered, it may seem exceedingly difficult to maintain an inter-racial relationship. You would be surprised to know that this is far from the truth. In fact, surveys have shown that inter-racial dating and the consequential relationship following that actually last much longer than the average same-race couples. Why is this the case?

Common sense dictates that, in general terms, these two individuals are so diverse from each other that they’re both sensitive to one another’s disposition. They both have at least one thing in common which holds them together and serves as their foundation in building a stronger relationship. The constant adjustments that each has to make for the other actually serves to maintain their interest in each other. This goes on until both eventually end up feeling comfortable in their relationship.

First Impressions Can Make or Break A Date

First impression counts

First impression counts

Computers have changed the way we do everything. Just try to imagine for one minute what the world would be like without them. It would be a much different place. Computers have even become the norm for dating. There are hundreds of online dating sites out there that boast true connections, or the ability to find your soul mate. There are even several online dating sites that specialize in over 50 dating.

How do Online Dating Sites Work?

Most of these sites work in the same fashion. You register with the site, and you make a profile that tells all about you. This is how other people will see you for the first time on the dating site, and we all know how important first impressions are. Your profile should be a nice eye candy, but you should resist the urge to lie in your profile. You will eventually have to meet people, and if your profile is nothing but a lie, then your meetings will never have positive results.

Should Your Profile be 100% Accurate?

It is a fairly common practice for people to stretch the truth just a little bit with their online dating profile. Some of the most common things that are exaggerated are photos, weight, and finally age. Using a photo that is a few years old is completely acceptable, but in today’s world where every single phone has a built in camera, there really is no reason to not have a current picture that really reflects who you are.

Should You Reveal Your Real Age?

It is also a fairly common practice to stretch the truth about your age, and it can be difficult to tell the difference in 5-10 years of age especially if you are involved in over 50 dating. If you are pursuing online dating in hopes of finding a soul mate that you plan to spend the rest of your life with, then you should post your legitimate age.

Building Trust by Being Truthful

The truth will come out eventually. How would you feel if you found out that you had been lied to from the very beginning? Trust is a very important thing. Being lied at can quickly shatter any trust that you have in a person especially if you have been lied to in the past. If someone has lied to you about their age, what else have they been less than truthful about? Do unto others as you want done to you. Tell the truth. If someone does not like you because of your age, then you don’t need them by your side.

Don’t let other people influence what your online profile should say. If everyone around you is telling you that you look 30, but in reality you are in your late 40′s, they just might be saying this to make you feel better about yourself.

In the end, it is your profile. The decision is yours, but you should always put your best foot forward, and that means telling the truth from the very beginning.
